One of my favourite singers ever. This great man is an Alevi, singing Turkish (Anatolian) folk music with his extraordinary voice, just like his mate Oguz Aksaç with whom he formed the best singer duo ever existed in this world.
They were singing together in a group called Grup Çig, but sadly, they parted their ways and now we only have videos left of their great performances. Because of his style and the way he looks, Özarslan is sometimes called the Turkish Pavarotti.
Both Mustafa Özarslan as Oguz Aksaç are born in the wrong country: in Turkey, they will never get the credits they deserve, because people prefer to listen stupid songs about cheating, love and things like that.
Anyway, for the best live performance ever, see:
Mustafa Özarslan in optima forma:
I met Mustafa Özarslan in a cafe in Ankara. I went there with my family… it’s just a modest place where you can have a nice breakfast and I saw him sitting there. I immediately recognized him as that’s just what you do as a “fan” *. He was very polite and interested in us. Asked me for my name and where we are from. Beside that, we could take photos with him; he was fine with that too. Great man, really. A man which I think would make a great friend.
Cheers, Mustafa abi!
